Synopsis:

After the events of the first film, marine biologist Dr. Jonas Taylor (played by Jason Statham) and his team have successfully captured and contained the giant Megalodon, known as “The Meg,” in a specially designed underwater facility. The world is now aware of the existence of these massive predators, and efforts are being made to protect the oceans from further attacks.
However, when a mysterious distress signal is received from a deep-sea research station located in the treacherous Mariana Trench, Dr. Taylor is called upon once again to investigate. Reluctantly, he agrees, knowing that the threat of another Megalodon is a real possibility.
Joined by a new team of scientists, including marine biologist Dr. Emily Thompson (played by Jessica Chastain), and under the supervision of billionaire Jack Morris (played by Samuel L. Jackson), Dr. Taylor embarks on a dangerous mission to the unexplored depths of the trench.
